Privacy policy

Written in plain words for parents, teachers and kids.

The short version

We collect only what's needed to teach math and show progress. We never sell data, never show ads, and never share a child's name with anyone outside the grown-ups linked to them.

What we collect

Children: a first name or nickname, a username (no email needed), the curriculum region, and answers to math questions (right or wrong, time taken, hints used).

Parents, tutors and school admins: name, email and, for paid plans, billing handled by our payment provider (we never see full card numbers).

Children under 13

Children under 13 can't sign up on their own. A parent or guardian creates the account and gives consent when they do. This follows the US children's privacy law (COPPA) and Canadian privacy law (PIPEDA and BC's PIPA).

Who can see a child's progress

Only the child, their linked parents, tutors a parent invited, teachers whose class they joined, and that school's admin. Every adult's access can be removed by a parent.

The AI helper

When a child asks the AI helper for a hint, we send only the math question and their answer — never their name, email or anything that identifies them.

Schools

Student records stay under the school's control (FERPA in the US). Schools can ask us to export or delete their students' data at any time.

Your choices

Parents can see everything we store about their child, ask us to correct it, or delete the account and all its data. Deleting is permanent.

Security

Data is encrypted in transit, access is checked on our servers for every request, codes are random and guessing is blocked, and staff access is logged.
